Hello and welcome!
I am a married, stay-at-home mom, with a degree in Business Administration. I have two young daughters, the youngest of which was born with health problems. I quit my job to get her out of daycare because she was sick so often (I was able to track it and at its worst she was sick every 20 days). But, staying home has left me feeling guilty that I’m not contributing an income.
One of my hobbies has is to create websites for myself, which I’ve been doing since 2000. Since the year 2000 I’ve tried many affiliate programs and spent (aka wasted) way too much money in the process. I’m pretty good at making websites but, until 2007, I was lousy at actually making money from them. (Want to see one of my sites? Check out Celebrity Blog Directory.)
Finally, in August of 2007, I came across Build A Niche Store (aka BANS). I read the sales page and was intrigued. Google provided more information about BANS and I thought this might be an affiliate program that would really work.
It took two days for me to convince my husband. I purchased BANS and had my first site up in a few days (I had some techinical difficulties due to my not reading the manual…). A few weeks later I got my first commission. It was for less than $1 but I was literally jumping around the house with joy.
As of this writing it is about five months later and I’ve made $571.56. Not as much as I’d like but I got caught up in an unrelated project that has taken me about two months to complete (it still isn’t done) and has been very time-intensive. Time I could have spent working on my sites.
The point is, in a few months I’ve made back the cost of the BANS software and then some. With less effort than I would have liked. Going into 2008 I plan on finishing my unrelated project and focusing on BANS. By this time next year I’m hoping that my commissions will be in the five-digit range.
I’ve learned more about working on and optimizing websites in the few months I’ve been a member of BANS than I did in the entire seven+ years leading up to finding BANS. More, actually. And I’m sharing what I’ve learned here so others can benefit, too.
While much of what I post here is focused on BANS it is by no means limited to BANS. You can apply much of this to almost any type of website.
Here’s to our success!
