[2009-03-28 The three sites I created for this test were thin affiliate sites. I did a very poor job of creating the sites and have not done what needs to be done to make them good sites. As a result, I have not kept the domains, and you will no longer be able to look up these sites in Google. If you find any results after this update then that means someone else bought the URLs and anything you find is not mine.]
Someone asked me today if I still think 30 Minute Backlinks was worth purchasing. He had looked for backlinks to my three test sites and found results that were not even close to what I had stated. It was a fair question and one I think deserved its own post.
About two or three months ago I purchased 30 Minute Backlinks and put it to a test. I followed the method explained by 30 Minute Backlinks and then used three different promotional methods for the toolbars I created. Every so often I posted updates of this test, then eventually concluded the test and gave my findings. However, I don’t think I explained how I came to the figures that I posted.
Supposedly, Google lets users search for sites that link to a specific site by using the command link:url.com (where ‘url.com’ is replaced with the site you are checking on). I have never had luck with this command so I don’t use it. Instead, I searched for the keyword phrases I focused on during my testing.
For example, one of the test sites is a niche store promoting gender neutral toys. For this site I targeted the keyword phrase gender neutral toys. To see the results of my keyword phrase I can enter “gender neutral toys” in Google. As of this writing here is what I see when I do this:

That looks good, but I want to see only the results pertaining to the toolbar I created. For that I search for “gender neutral toys toolbar” 1.0 or “download gender neutral toys” 1.0. Now I see results from all the sites that Google has indexed with my toolbar:

Each of the 500+ results contains a backlink to one of my niche stores. For each of my test sites I searched Google for the keyword phrases I targeted, and that is how I arrived at the numbers I came to in my last update of 30 Minute Backlinks.
Lastly, the person I mentioned above asked if I am still satisfied with my purchase of 30 Minute Backlinks. Yes, I am. I’ll admit that I haven’t used it to its fullest, but that’s because I’ve been sick for the last month (did I mention that my illness turned into pneumonia?) and I’ve had some other personal issues occur that have really thrown me for a loop. But once the dust settles here I intend to create toolbars, and the other four items that 30 Minute Backlinks gives instructions for, to all of my remaining niche stores.

Rochelle ~ You had mentioned that you were sick and I’m so sorry to hear about the pneumonia!
As for the 30 min backlinks … I too have had inconsistent results with Google whenever checking backlinks for my sites and you’ve outlined perfectly how to double check the real results.
I’m glad to see that the system worked so well for you and that’s what I’ve seen with several others too.
Thanks for posting your results … it’s encouraging. Hope you’re feeling better *hugs* Suzanne

Awww, hope you are feeling better soon! This definitely sounds like something worth purchasing, and I downloaded your BANS toolbar, BTW, and I love it! Take care of yourself!
HI,
Sorry you are having some problems, I hope you are better soon and you can see that those problems brought you some new opportunities.
I really appreciate your posts. You seem to be one of the few that care enough to help some of us that are new and green about building profitable sites.
I really have not seen other solutions for building back links that result in the volume of links or the value. If you have other methods to build links I would like to hear them. Building traffic is my biggest challange.

Jerry,
Thank you for your kind words. I’m finally on the mend (keeping my fingers crossed…).
As to building links, I am learning some methods that are completely new to me. As you may have read, I’m paying to have Michelle MacPhearson as my mentor. She has had me do some things to gain traffic that I’ve never heard of. I will be creating ebooks based on what I learn and I think the traffic info she’s teaching me will be part of an ebook because it lends itself very well to a specific kind of niche store. Sorry if that sounds cryptic. I don’t want to give away much until I’m sure what I will write about. The one site that she’s working with me on, which has been built from the ground up with Michelle’s help at every step, is looking very promising right now.
