No, the strategy I am using for the blog on my BANS site is not exactly what Michelle has taught in Crowd Mountain. During one of the Q&As she gave me advice specific to my situation (having a BANS site that has tanked in Google but is still indexed).

If you would like specifics for what I am doing, find one of my posts within CM and ask me about it there. I’d be happy to explain what I am doing inside the CM site. Sorry to any non-CM members reading this, but I do not want to give away Michelle’s methods, as I do not think that would be fair to her.

Regarding templates, I am not sure what you mean. Please clarify so I can properly answer your question.

Rochelle, so are using the WP blog in exact same fashion as we were taught in CM? Are there any other tweaks you made to the blog? What about any interface issues between BANS and WP? Finally, are you limited in what templates you can use with WP?

@ Julie –

I just wanted to jump in and help with the font size thing you mentioned.

I dont know exactly which font size you want to change (p, h1,h2, menus, etc) but they are all controlled in the wp-content/themes/simplecss/style.css file. You can get to it within your blog admin > appearance > editor >

The main content font is controlled by the entry on line 120:

font-size: 12px;

Yes, I have kept BANS in the root folder and installed a blog in a subfolder. (But, I wouldn’t say I worked really hard on this domain with Michelle. She helped me some on this one, but I worked hard on another one that does not have BANS on it.)

No, I am not using the same template on the blog and BANS site. But I did find a theme (the BlueSky theme from ‘Elegant Themes’) that is fairly close, then I modified the css stylesheet so they are very similar. The only reason I didn’t go with one of Mark’s Simple CSS templates is because I put a lot of work into modifying the BANS site and I really like it. To be honest, I think the blog turned out really great. I’m very happy with the results.

I have been thinking about redirecting my website so that a wp blog is on the root. Now I am leaning toward just keeping BANS on the root and working harder on the blog in folder content. Isn’t that what you are doing with a BANS store that you worked very hard on with Michelle?

With Bans on the root and a blog in folder, are you using a template that unites the store and blog with the same sidebars, heading,and footer? I am using Mark’s Simple CSS template that he created last summer, but I don’t like the way it looks, especially the font size which I don’t know how to change.
