You may find that you need to restore some files to your hosting company but not all. In that case you won’t want to do a full restore as this will restore every file from your Full Site backup. Don’t worry, I’m here to walk you through the process.
This method will require you to use an FTP. The FTP I recommend is CoffeeCup Direct FTP. (You can read my review of CoffeeCup Direct FTP at http://www.nichestorestrategies.com/the-best-ftp-ive-used/.) I have written these instructions using CoffeeCup Direct FTP. If you choose to use a different method then the steps may vary from what follows.
My instructions to partially restore files and folders on your site: | |
Step One | |
| Open CoffeeCup Direct FTP. | |
| On the ‘My Computer‘ side navigate to where your backed up files are located on your computer: | |
![]() | |
| Step Two | |
| Connect to your hosting server. You will probably be at the root folder (/public_html) for your entire hosting account. It may look something like: | |
![]() | |
Step Three | |
| Navigate on the ‘My Site‘ site to the location of the site you need to upload files to. For the purposes of this instruction I will navigate to my My Little Pony site’s location: | |
![]() | |
| Step Four | |
| Drag whatever folders you want to restore from the ‘My Computer‘ side and drop them on the folder that has “…” after it (the very top folder) on the ‘My Site‘ side: | |
![]() | |
| Or you can upload individual files into their respective folders, such as moving the template files from your computer to your server. | |
| View your site to see how it looks. If images look a little funny you may need to upload the images again for the template you are using. | |
