		<description>Phil,

I agree with what you wrote. I actually use my ftp program for this. The reason I didn't blog about this method is because some ftp programs are very unreliable and don't upload or download all files in a folder. This will cause problems, especially with sites like BANS. A single missing file will cause problems that users may not realize is because a file is missing.

For anyone wanting to restore a BANS site using an ftp program, you might want to check each folder and compare it to the folder on your computer to make sure everything uploaded.

<description>Rochelle - Today (06/04/08) I had to restore my first site due to an installation error when I was setting up my sixth BANS store.

I had difficulty using your procedure above, so I contacted Hostgator, and they advised me to upload my files via FTP rather than from cPanel. The FTP program that I use (FileZilla) shows a whole bunch of information while the file transfer is actually taking place, that does not appear if you do the process via cPanel.

It shows in detail the amount of the file actually transferred, the amount left to transfer, the transfer rate, expected time to completion, etc. I found this a much better way to do this process, and actually wrote a BANS Forum post in the Tips and Success category giving you credit for showing BANS users how to back up our files.

Thanks for all you do for BANS!!
