Wow. There is nothing quite like a crisis to make you realize you should have been doing something all along. In my case, I now realize I should have some way to monitor my sites and make sure they are not down.
I have close to 100 sites and if one (or more) goes down, I probably would not have a clue unless someone contacted me about it. The thing is, it is highly unlikely someone will notify me because my ‘Contact Me’ info would also be down.
Lesson learned.
Today I set out to find a way to monitor my sites with very little cost. I did not mind spending money, but I do not want to pay a monthly fee.
Lucky me, I found a site that will monitor up to 100 sites for free. Signing up was easy, as was adding sites.
If you would also like to monitor your sites, check out Montastic.
FYI – I downloaded and installed a good many monitoring programs and did not like any of them. Montastic was the last one I found and I wish I had found it first. It would have saved me a lot of time this afternoon.

Rochelle, I try to follow your blog as much as I can since you provide alot of very good info here at your site and on Marks site. This tool you just found is just what I needed..thanks for the info…OTIS
Yeah, I’ve been using Uptrends.com, but they only allow you to track one site. I’ll use Montastic and see how it goes.

Thanks, Rochelle, another valuable hint!
Yes, I’ve had sites go down before and only found out by accident so this is really useful. Particularly when the sites are (hopefully) generating income.
Rochelle, once again, you’re a lifesaver! I too have close to 100 sites up and it’s virtually impossible to monitor them all effectively. I appreciate your sharing this Free information. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for this Rochelle. I am aroound the 100 site mark now too and I have been going to every site every couple days to check them. This will save tons of time.
Thank you
I’m a long way off having 100 sites, but can quite imaging what it must be like to try and monitor them all. This will be great!
Also I assume the 100 site limit is per account, so when when you reach that limit, just sign up again for a new account and you get another 100.
It might be worthwhile adding this to your Niche Store Checklist.
Funny you should suggest this. I did exactly that (added ‘Monitoring site’) to the checklist this past weekend. I haven’t released it for public use, though, because I want to add a few more things before doing so.
I think I will write a post asking for suggestions on what to add to the checklist.
