About a month ago I created a site, using the method described in N1WAY, for my oldest daughter. After the site was finished, I got caught up in other things (aka working on flood repairs – yeah, I’m sick of it, too!) and did almost nothing to get traffic. In fact, I may not have done anything.
This morning I checked the stats for this site and was shocked to find that she had two sales! While there are many factors that may have contributed to these two sales, I am thrilled that a new site with no promotional effort whatsoever has gotten two sales.
The site was built using WordPress and I targeted items from Amazon. To do this, I used the ReviewAZON plugin (which is excellent, btw). The only things I had the plugin get for me were the images for each item and customer reviews. I didn’t have it pull any thing else, such as the descriptions. I wrote my own descriptions, and did research on long-tail keywords to target.
My reason for not including the default Amazon product descriptions were two-fold:
I am totally encouraged by the results gotten from this site. The funny thing is, when my daughter chose this niche I did the research, but really didn’t think people would be coming to the Internet to purchase what is on the site (no, I’m not sharing). Seems I was wrong. I soooo can’t wait to create another site using the method in N1WAY, and combining it with the other methods I’ve learned along the way.
How are your N1WAY sites doing?
Similar niche store strategies:
Just had to add that there is yet another sale for this site. The conversion rate so far on this site for Amazon sales is almost 40%! There haven’t been many clicks, but the few clicks this site has gotten that have clearly been from people wanting to buy.
Truly, I am floored by the success my daughter’s site is having this early in the game. Although I am not sharing the niche, just know that it proves that ANY niche can work if the site is built well.

Hi Rochelle
That’s great, it’s the first time I have seen someone else, other than myself, using N1Way for an affiliate program other than eBay.
I have just completed my 3rd site using the guide and have 2 others in the process of being developed, they are all ePN so far BUT the next two are going to be phpZon and Overstock.
I hope the site continues to perform well.

Ben – The N1WAY method will work well for just about any affiliate program, no doubt about that. I just checked the stats for my daughter’s site, and she is up to six orders.
Much luck with your sites!
Rochelle
That’s brilliant – well done you and her.
Cherie,
Thanks! My daughter is so excited about this. I’m now working on a site for my seven-year-old who is hoping for the same results.
Rochelle
Congratulations on a job well done!
Hi Rochelle, I followed you here from The Niche Store Builder site. Like most epn affiliates, I’m worried about what will take place once the QPC hammer falls. I haven’t been making a killing with my BANS and phpBay sites, but I’ve earned more in the past few months than expected, also with basically no promotion.
I do have a question for you though. I see you recommend ReviewZon. I’ve been thinking of purchasing the plugin phpZon. I can get it for about half the price of ReviewZon. Any idea on how these two stack up against each other?
Mark,
Interesting question about phpZon and ReviewAZON. They are sort of the same, and sort of not. If you have phpBay, then you already know how phpZon works. Exactly the same. It displays Amazon items in the same format. You control how many items are displayed, how they are displayed, etc.
As for ReviewAZON, it displays one item, and additional information that you want shown. You can show ratings and comments for that item, the price, if it qualifies for free shipping, the sale price (if it has one), etc.
What I REALLY LOVE about ReviewAZON are the ratings and comments. That’s actually why I purchased this plugin.
I do have a concern regarding ReviewAZON. I fear that any Amazon item that I have showing may someday become obsolete. How do I know how long any given seller will sell an item? I don’t want to have a page on my site that eventually goes to an item that is no longer being sold.
Last night I flirted with the idea of combining ReviewAZON and phpZon. Although I haven’t done it yet, I think the two plugins would compliment each other really well. What I would do is use the ReviewAZON plugin for getting customer ratings and reviews for a given item, and ONLY show that information. It would NOT have a link to the item on Amazon. Then, I would use the phpZon plugin to display several offerings of that item.
Doing so would make sure my site does not become obsolete by having a bunch of dead (or might as well be dead because they go to pages that no longer sell products) pages on Amazon. Does that make sense?
I am currently using the ReviewAZON plugin along with the phpBay Pro in exactly the same way. A page has a description of the item, displays eBay auctions, then has user ratings and comments.
If I had to choose one of these plugins over the other, right now I would go with ReviewAZON. That’s only because I LOVE the ratings and comments feature. I fully believe that having ratings and comments has increased sales conversion. But phpZon is also a good plugin.
If you would like more information please let me know.

Hi Rochelle
I was wondering if you could tell me how you make the reviewazon just show customer reviews and images. I too have taken your advice and am writing my own descriptions. But am a bit lost. Do I publish the product description and then add the reviewazon code?
thanks
Cherie,
You will need to make some changes your ReviewAZON Advanced Settings. I am going to add one setting change that you didn’t ask about, but I suspect will help you based on what you wrote:
– Click on the “Display Settings” tab (this is probably the default tab that shows when you go to Advanced Settings).
– Default Template Group = Custom
– Number of Reviews to Display = [whatever number you want]
– Cache Product Descriptions = Yes
– Click “Save Advanced Settings” to save changes
Now you will need to modify your custom template:
– Go to ReviewAZON Manage Templates
– Modify the code in the “Main” template to show only customer reviews and an image, using the token codes found on the right
– Click “Save Custom Templates” to save changes
The reason I had you change the “Cache Product Descriptions” to Yes is so you can change the default description for any given item to whatever you want it to say, and the description will become part of the ReviewAZON code, instead of having your description above the ReviewAZON code (if that makes sense). To do this you need to include the token %%DESCRIPTION%% somewhere in your custom template. After doing this, when you create a new page or post using ReviewAZON, you can change the description by modifying what is written in the “Product Description” box that is under the content area of a page or post, listed in the “ReviewAZON Post Properties” section.
I hope that helps,
Rochelle
