phpBay Search2Post Plugin

If you have a blog that runs phpBay Pro, phpZon, or phpOStock plugins, then you need to get the phpBay Search2Post plugin!  Did I emphasize that enough?

Seriously.  This nifty little plugin will take searches people do on your blogs and create actual pages for the search results.  You can show results for Amazon (phpZon), eBay (phpBay Pro), and/or OverStock (phpOStock).

By this, I mean you can show results for just one of the above plugins, two of them, or all three.  The choice is yours.

I’ve been playing around with this plugin today and absolutely love it!

The author of this plugin recommends that you use the MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin, along with Search2Post.  After you install and active this plugin, change the minimum ping frequency to 1 ping per 240 minutes.  There are several reasons why you want to do this:

  • You will prevent Google from getting angry about receiving too many pings in a short timeframe if a visitor completes a lot of searches at once.  Remember, every search will create a new page, which will be pinged.
  • You may want to review, modify, and/or delete pages before you notify search engines of the new pages.  Not every newly created page may fit with the overall theme of your site’s niche.
The cost of this plugin ($15) is well worth the value it provides.  Like I said, if you have any of the three aforementioned plugins, you need to shell out the extra bucks and get Search2Post plugin to go with them.
Now, if only someone could create a plugin like this that automatically creates new pages from searches for BANS sites…

    Hi Rochelle,

Seems like a great setup! I guess you can also generate posts yourself to start with by entering your own keywords.

As I don’t currently have any of the other plugins either, how long do you think it would take to get my money back if I were to invest in them all. Any general indication would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Maui SEO – I couldn’t say how long it would take you to earn back your investments. It really depends on what type of niche sites you have, how much traffic you get, how much you promote them, and so on.

If you are on a budget, I would start with phpBay Pro first. It pulls results from eBay, which usually has just about everything. A close second is phpZon, but, at this time, you can’t buy that without first buying phpBay Pro (it is in Beta status, and only available to current owners of phpBay Pro).

I’m very new to phpOStock, so please don’t think I’m discounting that one. I’m still learning what all is available there.

And, yes, you can create your own pages, but since you will probably want to edit pages that searchers create, you will save yourself time by creating them from within your blog’s Admin panel. Any searches you create are more likely to be for testing purposes that you will delete soon after creating them. At least, that’s what I’ve been doing.

I’ve just started using phpBay and got the extra plugins, include the search2post one, but I’m not sure about it yet.
I worried about having too many pages being created from searches

    SEO Zombie,

Just make sure you set it up to send you emails when a new search page has been created, so you can modify or delete it, as well as use the MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin to minimize pings. If you do those things, you should be ok. Unless, of course, you are fortunate enough to have a site that gets thousands of visitors a day, with tons of searches ; )
