Strategies
It has recently occurred to me that I know more than I give myself credit for. I have spent a lot of time learning about SEO (Search Engine Optimization), how to get traffic, how to promote sites, and so on. Although far from being an expert on these topics, I feel comfortable enough to remove the training wheels (so to speak) and go it alone.
If that made no sense, bear with me.
My learning has been come from many places. I have bought e-books that have helped me. I have asked questions in forums and on blogs. I even paid for mentoring from one very helpful individual. I did all those things because I didn’t know enough to successfully do them on my own.
A few days ago I bought an e-book about creating eBay affiliate sites. The e-book was on sale and I figured I might learn something I hadn’t previously read.
It took me about an hour to go through the e-book. When I was finished, I was a bit shocked to realize there was nothing new to me! Not only that, I knew more than the e-book had gone over. While the e-book was perfectly fine for those new to eBay affiliate sites, there was not a single bit of new information in it for me.
That was the moment I realized that I actually do know enough.
This week I have come to realize how to get traffic to my sites, and it’s pretty simple (but it does require an investment of time). But I have a tendency to be easily distracted, so I am currently working on a “To Do” list for myself to keep me from straying. When I’m done with it I will share it here, in case it is helpful to any of you.
Believe me when I say the idea in my head isn’t anything Earth-shattering, but I haven’t seen it spelled out the way I’m thinking of it. I haven’t put it to use yet, so this will be the perfect place for trying it out and seeing if it works the way I think it will. And, as always, I will be interested in the input from you readers, as you are very good at helping me see what I may have missed.

It’s amazing what our little brains will hold, isn’t it?
I find I read a lot of things that I already know as well and it’s kind of an ego stroke.

I’m not at all surprised to hear you know more than you thought you did! If you just look back at all of the really useful information you ‘ve posted here, it’s easy to see. Way to go!
I think this is a great idea. I have noticed that after a while these marketing things become clear but putting them to use on a consistent basis is tough.
If you have more than one site for example when did you submit your last posting, when did you submit a page and what page did you submit on which social marketing site etc. A good check list would really help keep focus on these things.
I will look forward to your check list
For someone like you that has been involved in BANS and dedicated to it for quite some time, I’m sure you know more than you think. If you’re dedicated to something, over time you will pick up a lot of info and you won’t realize how much you know, until you encounter a so-called “expert” that doesn’t seem to know as much as you!
