For the past year I have maintained a premium USFreeads account. But I have forgotten about it. As some of you may know, I am in the process of learning how to use Squidoo to bring in traffic, which reminded me of USFreeads.
Last week I created a brand new niche store. Immediately after creating it I created an ad for it on USFreeads. I’ve been tracking it and started getting traffic immediately to my new niche store from the ad. Today, I am delighted to say, I saw in my eBay EPN stats not one, but two affiliate sales!
There is no doubt in my mind that this is because of the USFreeads ad. Google picks up new ads almost immediately, which is what makes this such a powerful way to get traffic, especially to a brand new site.
My point in sharing this is to encourage you to use this very easy method. It’s easy and well worth the cost of a paid account (at least, it is for me). If you don’t yet have an account, you can get one (even a free one) by going to USFreeads.
I’d love to hear if any of you do or don’t have luck with your own USFreead accounts.
Rochelle
I started a USfreeAds account some time ago as well and then forgot I even started the account. I better dust off that account and place a few ads.
Man, it’s so easy to start things and how quickly they can escape the mind.
James,
Isn’t that the truth! I am so good at starting something, then forgetting about it as the next shiny thing catches my eye.

Hi Rochelle
I signed up for the free account a couple of days ago after reading your article “How to Use USFreeads to Promote Your Sites”. I’m looking forward to having a go! I am wondering when you set up your Ad did you consider the competition in Google and therefore chose your keywords carefully? i.e. how do you get your Ad to rank in Google?
By the way, it’s nice to see you back!
Denise
Denise,
It’s good to be back ; ) I’m glad to finally have some free time that I can devote to my blog and niche stores again (though this will change within the next week or two, as we are almost ready to start painting our house, and I will be the primary painter).
You’ve asked an excellent question! Yes, I do keyword research when creating USFreeads. It definitely makes a difference if you do your keyword homework. This is true when you create a niche store, blog post, USFreead, or just about anything else you do online. If no one is searching for the keywords you use, then probably no one will find your site.
Conversely, if lots of people are searching for the keywords you use, and there is very little competition for those keywords, then you will almost certainly get traffic.
Rochelle
It’ll be so nice for you to have a fresh, new house again … I hope all goes well.
I’ve placed my first USfreead and it is so easy. I don’t know how long Google took to index it, but it was showing in the index within a few hours and I’ve already had 4 visits to my website from it.
I signed up for the free account, but immediately upgraded to the Gold account for $10 for the whole year. I then took the one week’s free trial of the Premium account and that’s what I’m currently using.
If you intend to sign up for the Premium account at $9.99 per month, you can save money by signing up for the Gold account at $10 for the whole year. Then, when you access your account, take the one week’s free trial of the Premium account and then upgrade to the Premium account, which they offer to Gold members at $6.99 per month.
Overall that is an annual saving of $26.00 plus the one week’s free trial which is worth an additional $6.99 – total annual saving $32.99.
Denise
Denise,
I’m glad to hear it was easy for you to create ads. I’m currently in the process of creating ads for each of my sites, with some that link deep within my sites.
Congrats on finding a way to save money. I didn’t know about that when I joined so I’m paying the full amount, but I still think it is worth it.
Rochelle
I abolutely love USFreeads! It gives me clickbank sales every week. I first do the keyword research using google adwords tool, then put my ad, and within a few hours my ad will be on one of the first two pages of google. I post ads daily or as often as I could, and then just forget about it. I will get sales every week from different products. That’s it.
I just paid for a Premium Membership only to find out they no longer
(as of July 2009)accept any Amazon links or your account will be deleted!!
I was really looking forward to putting up ads for my affiliate Amazon products.
Nikkicute,
Don’t you just hate it when the rules change? eBay did pretty much the same thing this month, stating that you can’t link directly to them on 3rd party sites you don’t own.
What I recommend is that you use links to your site that have links to Amazon (or eBay). For what it’s worth, USFreeads does provide nice backlinks to your site, even though they are nofollow, and this will help with your search engine rankings if you are working to get backlinks.
Rochelle
Thanks Rochelle, but I honestly think if I followed your recommendation they would delete my account. Not sure if they would
think that is still advertising for Amazon. They did answer my
e-mail but did not explain why they no longer except those ads.
Hello Nikkicute,
As advised on the first step of the registration process and the first step of the ad placing process, we are not accepting any new ads for Amazon but old ads can continue running for the time being
Regards,
Jamie
USFreeads.
Jamie,
I can totally appreciate your concern about having your account deleted by violating their terms.
Here is what they state:
“WARNING!
We DO NOT accept any of the following types of ad:
Credit cards or anything credit card related
Prescription Drugs or anything drug related, including pharmacies
Illegal products/services, or anything of dubious legality
Steroids or anything steroid related
Pornography or anything pornography related
Gambling or anything gambling related
Movie Downloads or movie download sites. (as of August 14th 2008)
Amazon Products or links (as of July 2009).”
The way I interpret that is that you cannot create an ad and have any links in the ad that go to Amazon. It does not say that you are not allowed to have links that go to your website that have Amazon products or links, as it does state in the rule above it (no ads for movie downloads or movie download sites). I think you are safe to link to your site that has Amazon links.
Please let us know if you get further clarification from USFreeads.
Rochelle
I’m not Jamie, she works for USFreeAds, she’s the one who answered my e-mail. I just want to make sure because their interpretation could differ from yours.
So you think this is about having direct links?
If I were to create an ad, do I advertise the product or my site with the Amazon items listed? (as you can tell I’m a newbie to all of this affiliate marketing).
The thing that confuses me is it says no Amazon Products. I mean ANY product that is listed on Amazon you cannot promote?
They literally have millions!!!
You were right Rochelle!
Here is their answer to my question:
Hello Nikkicute,
Your own website can contain Amazon products or links and you can post an ad to advertise your website, but we do not accept any advertisements for Amazon or Amazon products or ads containing links to Amazon.
Regards,
USFreeads
Nikkicute,
First, my sincere apologies for the incorrect name. Sorry!
Thank you, also, for posting the answer you got from USFreeads.
What you can do is create an ad, probably as you initially intended to do, then, instead of linking to Amazon, link to your site (it can be any page, such as your Home page or the actual product page for the item you are creating an ad for).
If you are new to all of this, I strongly recommend the new BANS Guide. It has excellent information that will really help newbies (and veterans, as I learned a few things) learn how to create niche stores. Yes, there is really nothing in it that you can’t find on your own, but I’ve been doing this for several years now and still learned, and what I learned was pretty important (it was section four, how to build a site, which is as far as I have read so far).
Follow their method of building sites. It doesn’t have to be BANS sites. They also show how to create a WordPress blog niche store. Although they recommend the phpBay Pro plugin, I now prefer ReviewAZON, which is a much easier way to add Amazon items. I am actually creating an Amazon product site right now for my daughter, following the method explained in the BANS Guide.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Rochelle
Oh great another guide??
So many and it takes time to try them out to see what works.
Now I have to go and figure out what site/blog to build to connect my
USFreeads to, Thanks for all your help Rochelle:)
Hi Rochelle
For various reasons, eBay does not offer affiliate program to people from India, so I will have to go with Amazon only. If you’ve tried Amazon, can you tell me what has been your experience with it. If you could, please also tell me your average CPM with Amazon. I guess they only offer a 15% commission. I wonder how much would that add up to..
By the way, I really think you should post a eBay vs. Amazon article based on your experiences..
Anand Srinivasan´s last blog ..Nice SEO Trick You’ll Like
Hi Anand,
Are you, by chance, the same Anand who is a member of Commission Ritual’s Inner Circle?
Yes, I believe eBay just shut down their program with India. As to Amazon, I’m mostly impressed with it (much more so than I am with eBay), but the commissions are tiered, not flat. You can see their structure at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/join/compensation.html?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_t=501&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=&pf_rd_s=assoc-center-1&pf_rd_r=&pf_rd_i=assoc_landingpage_graphic
Only their Endless.com program is 15%. That being said, I’ve found them to be a really great source, as their products are almost as varied as eBay’s, except for vintage items. I also use the ReviewAZON plugin with some of my Amazon affiliate sites to show customer reviews for any given item, and that seems to be working pretty well.
Good idea about an eBay vs. Amazon article. I’ll think about that one for a bit to see how I would approach it.
Rochelle
Thanks for the link. And no, I guess that’s a different Anand (there are way too many Indians named Anand
)
I do not have an affiliate site right now, though I am considering diversifying away from Adsense

Anand,
Ah, I guess that would have been like me asking if you are the Mike, Jim, or Steve from somewhere. The name was new to me, but I fear I just showed my cultural ignorance. Sorry about that.
It’s pretty easy to get started with Amazon with free tools, though I recommend investing in one of the plugins, should you want to create multiple sites. They will save you time, and time is money.
Much luck to you,
Rochelle
LOL., not a problem..
I am really eager to start one soon to see how it goes. I was taking a look at the Amazon commission rates. I wonder how much I would need to sell in order to make up for the time invested.
Anyway, will try it out and let you know..

I saw some usfreeads ad having 35000 visitors!! Then I checked that advertisier’s other ads. WOW! He has thousands of visitors to his ads. I have no idea how he did it though I couldn’t figure out when they are posted. He has premium acct.
I have been using USFREEADS since two yrs but couldn’t do much with it. Any body has a clue as to how one can have tens of thousands of visitors to his usfreeads ads?
Dess,
No, I have no idea. Hopefully, he is able to divert some of that traffic to his sites.
Rochelle
Hi Rochelle
As far as you know are you still able to use this technique and link to ebay auctions on your own site (be it BANS, phpbay etc.)?

Mike´s last blog ..Slash – The Way To Sell Music – Record Companies Take Note
Mike,
As much as I hate to admit this, I keep forgetting that I have a USFreeads account. Since I have forgotten that I have an account, I have not been using it. So, I guess the short answer to your question is no, simply because I haven’t used it.
The sites that I had when I did use USFreeads are sites that I no longer have. I’ve gotten rid of all my BANS sites (except for one, and I will get rid of that site when it expires in a few more months), and those were the sites that I had ads on USFreeads for.
Using USFreeads DID work, and I suspect it would still work.
It seems like whenever I learn a new strategy, one of my old strategies gets pushed to the back of my mind, which is what happened here. The price is certainly reasonable (unless you forget to use it, like me!), and your post is inspiring me to try it again. However, I will have to check out their TOS to make sure that any links I add are acceptable links.
If you use this method, please share your results, as I’d like to know how well this works for others.
