Use Website Color Schemer to Help Change Your Site’s Colors

If you decide you want to change the look of your Build A Niche Store (aka BANS) site one of the easiest ways is to change the color scheme of your store. But, while I think this may be easy, you may not.

I tried several free color schemer tools but they just didn’t do much for me. Finally I came across a tool that I love to use when I edit colors on my sites. It is called Website Color Schemer by CoffeeCup. There are many uses for this tool but I primarily use it for one. I use the Website Color Schemer to save colors.

When I first started changing colors I would write down the colors and their HTML codes. My resulting notes would look something like:

dark blue 270092
purple d8cbeb
very pale purple f2ecf8
mauve c0a6bd
green 7f9c7e
pale green d8e1d0

But the above list is pretty meaningless. Sure, I see that I have a few shades of purple listed, but which one do I want for a particular area of my site? I’d have to try the the one I thought I wanted, save my template, look and see I chose the wrong color, search through my template to find the wrong color and try again. Waaaay too time consuming and difficult.

This problem is solved with the Website Color Schemer. Using this tool the same list of colors looks like this:

Notice that each color in the written list is now visible in the left sidebar of the image above, along with the HTML color codes. Much easier to use!

Best of all I can save a color scheme and open it later to use again.

BTW, the above color scheme is one that I use in my Beatrix Potter store. Using the Website Color Schemer made it so much easier to edit various sections of my site.

There are other uses for the Website Color Schemer that you can read about on the CoffeeCup web site. I found the small price of this program was more than worth being able to see colors as I edit and save color schemes.
