In this case I used the URL of my site. For some sites, such as my BANS Toolbar site, I use a term. It really depends what results you want to see as to what to use for a Google Alert. There is no limit, that I am aware of, for how many alerts you can create so do whatever you want.

No, the link isn’t clickable, which is partly why I think the magazine is an actual print magazine that was scanned. As to traffic, I do get direct traffic, but, as you said, I’ll never know if it came from this.

Rochelle ~ Congratulations! That’s exciting news. I was wondering if that link is clickable or now … I couldn’t get it to but I wasn’t sure if that was the way the publication had put it out or how you presented it to us. If it’s not clickable you won’t truly know how many visits you get from it. Do you typically get a lot of “direct” traffic on this site? I have not messed with Google Alerts too much lately, been too busy with other things to really learn the system.

This site holds a special place in my heart. I really like how it turned out visually.

What about small niches scares you? Fanatical niches have buyers. The funny thing about my ghost hunting tools site is I’ve gotten many purchases from it but mainly from a single item. I could probably have made a site specifically for this item (sorry, not gonna share what it is) and do just as well as I am now.

Personally, I prefer small niches. There tends to be far less competition and a greater opportunity for sales. At least, that has been my experience with small vs. large niche stores.

How exciting! I’d love this to happen to one of my sites. Hasn’t there been some research done by Google or someone, that visitors will click the Google entries at the top and the bottom of the list more often than those in the middle? I think it is because of the white space you get around the the ads at the top and bottom of the list – makes them easier to see. So, you may actually do much better than those further up the list. Let’s hope so. It’s a fun site and I hope you do well with it.
